The Great Windsor Chair Race 2012
The Great Windsor Chair Race went off for a second year (look here for the previous year) at the wonderful Contemporary Crafts Fair in Bovey Tracy, Devon. Racing this year were Carl Clerkin and Chris Eckersley as well as a new racer, Gareth Neal. We were kindly given a much larger space in the fair than last year, following our previous sucesses, and we had slightly better weather too.
As with last year, the rough brief for the weekend was to make as many prototypes for new designs of Windsor Chairs although we were pretty quick to go off the plan and our competitive spirit was rather lack-luster. This year we were lucky enough to have components given to us by both Ercol and Lloyd Loom of Spalding.
I concentrated my time on continuing to think about prototypes for Lloyd Loom of Spalding who we had all visited the week before as part of the Elves and the Chairmakers project. In the photos can be seen a version of the Orkney chair, barstool and stacking chairs for them as well as a zimmer frame and coat stand of mine.
